Stop what you're doing right now. I need your attention.

You with me? Good. I need to tell you all about something: Net Neutrality. On the 14th, this thing gets put under danger as Congress decides whether to let the FCC repeal the net neutrality bill or not. This is really important to not only how we browse the Internet but also how the Internet affects the world. I'm siding with Battle For The Net, who's aiming to "break the internet" tomorrow.

I won't put any jump breaks on this post because this is absolutely an issue we need to be in the know about, even if you don't live in America.

First of all, let's define what net neutrality is. Net neutrality allows ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to leave the web open to everyone, meaning ISPs don't control what we see on the internet nor can they make us have to pay to see everything. This page best explains how net neutrality works and the consequences that would arise should it be taken away better than I can.

Basically, Ajit Pai is threatening net neutrality and thus threatening our ability to surf the web freely without being screwed over by corporate agendas. The more help, the better.

Tomorrow, the banner of this website will be changed to protest against Pai and the FCC's proposition and I may even degrade the layout of the site. This will only be for a day, but the message will still hopefully come across; net neutrality is necessary, not just for our memes and entertainment, but for business, school, work, and the world as a whole. We wouldn't be where we are today without the freedom of the Internet up to this point.

If you can, call your local representatives as well before Thursday this week to help try and influence Congress to not let the FCC's repeal pass, or sign a petition. If you can't, then at least continue to spread the word. Every little bit counts. 

Sorry for the serious, dense post today, but I know this is a problem that will affect most if not all of us significantly. We need to defend the Internet from being totally restricted and controlled by ISPs. Don't let this go idly by, please.

Today, I pose a hypothetical.
Maud was introduced in Season 4 as a character like we've never seen.
Being very stoic, lax and well really contrasting from any of the Mane 6, she stood out like a sore hoof.
The question today is...what if it were the opposite?
What if for 4 Seasons we had Maud instead of Pinkie?
And we got an episode called "Pinkie Pie", where Maud introduces her wild and crazy younger sister?

Maud Monday #27

I'll be discussing things from "Rock Solid Friendship" here, fair warning.

Now here's an interesting topic up for discussion. Maud's "Rocktorate". Now on the surface, this might seem like any old, boring diploma where she has a hard time finding work afterward. Let's take a step back and dig deeper at this though.

So ever since Maud's first episode back in season 4, we know that she is "heading out" to get her Rocktorate and anything with Maud beyond that gives time relevancy to where she is on her journey. Inferring Pinkie's "heading out" line, we can assume that Maud's path to that diploma started there or that this is another big trip for Maud, seeing as she traveled "all over Equestria for her rock dissertation". Now I want to come back to this, but I must bring up the essence of time passage between that line and what it means.

With that line, a flashback is shown where Maud basically leads Starlight Glimmer to the cave where she holds the Village Pony's cutie marks. Now while you might think that took place in season 5, but rather, that had to have taken place in season 4. Due to the Village still being under construction at the time. Heck, this might just be on Maud's aforementioned trip in Maud Pie. 

There's also something to be mentioned here about that point in time. As speculated earlier, this might have been the start of Maud's path to her degree. But whether or not it was, it should be known that a dissertation (a thesis by definition) has taken her 3ish, maybe 4 years to complete in order to graduate for the Rockterate. Which would be standard for a Bachelor's Degree. But since she's now considered to be a doctor, that means she had to have been in graduate school for that long.

Now I'd like to believe that Maud would be not only smart enough to do this in 3ish years and graduate early, but also this has always been something she's the most passionate about for years.

Discoveries. Nothing would drive a geologist further than finding something completely new out in the field. We see from the very beginning in Pinkie's exposition about Maud, that the rocks in the rock candy are ones "she discovered". So you're telling me that she's been discovering rocks not known to all of Equestria since she was a young filly!

I would have given her the Rocktorate right then and there. This just further proves that Maud has the drive to go for something this big.

One more bit of info that should be brought up is the journey brought up in the Maud and Rarity Friends Forever 29 comic. Here's where things get a big iffy on canonicity, but as far as it stands, as long as it doesn't interfere with show canon, it would be up to reader's choice I'd think. 

Professor Strata, a geologist pony, gives a lecture on how there is a cave system yet to be explored and how the first pony to find it will be given credit for the discovery. Through many perils, she and Rarity end up beating the competition to get to this cave.

Multiple discovers? Another student?

(Now jokingly, when Maud beats her to the cave, Buried Treasure says she's going back to be a lawyer...but Maud is the only one at her graduation. This could mean one of two things. Either BT was a different year than her, or there were other students going for this Rocktorate and Maud was so good, she was the only one to get it that year.)

This Rocktorate must mean a lot to Maud. I mean, after all this hard work, she gets go about every day looking for new rocks and be credited as the pony finding them. AND, she is now conversant enough in the field to be a doctor! What an amazing thing! :)

I can't come up with anything really creative that I can do minutes before going to sleep, so instead, let's try yet something else different. Finally, I got a Maud Monday in today! Sorry that I was forgetful enough that Enigma had to cover me for the past couple of Mondays, but I'm here now! Let's get into it.

Today I'm gonna be talking a little bit about the Season 7 episode "Rock Solid Friendship." If you haven't seen it yet, all potential spoilers lay after the break. (It's also a slice of life episode so wutevs)

Maud Monday #24

As Maud is my favorite pony, combined with my artistic "talent", it'd be wrong not to assume that she gets drawn A LOT.

My Little Pony opens up a whole universe for creativity of the fans and with practice it becomes second nature to doodle a cool pony in a notebook, or conversely; craft a magnificent masterpiece. And goodness knows if you draw everyday, even if it isn't pony, you'll start to see significant improvement from where you began. But even if you're not the most skilled, fear not; because the most important part to remember is the FUN part :)

It has actually come to the point where it's easy to draw Maud as she's the most drawn pony from me. It's just so cool to be able to put her in a situation perhaps she hasn't been in before (in art or in the show.)

Maud Monday #23

Good afternoon folks!

Happy late Father's Day to all you daddies out there!

Papa Was a Rollin' Stone~

Or in this case, he raised some good rocks.

Here we have the father of the Pie family himself, Igneous Rock Pie.

He looks like the kind of pony with a good work ethic, great family values and a solid attitude.

There are a few things one could observe in his relations to his family, Maud especially. Perhaps she took on a bit of his flatness in speech delivery. Or perhaps the desire to dress in some sort of style. Heck, it could be something as simple as loving rocks.

I can only imagine the insight Iggy would have to offer :)
